Demons was shot on Digital Betacam, using the new HD Angenieux zoom lens. Cinematographer Roderick Stevens, echoes what many D.P.s have insisted, "I light video exactly the same as I do film."

"I used a lot of top lighting for this story, because of it's starkness, and the ominous shadows it creates. Of course, Lance has a great face for this type of lighting!" R.S.

The director, John Soltys wanted the audience to see the character's surroundings. This worked nicely with video's inherent depth of field, but Roderick went one step further by pouring light into these interiors and shooting at a 5.6/8 so everything could be seen, but was kept 'darker'.

Nah, it's just on a Dutch head.

"I'm always amazed" notes Roderick "At how often, my favorite lighting comes from the simplest setups! For the scenes depicted below, we had a 60w Photoflood hanging in a practical fixture above the talent, and then about two feet above that, a 2k blonde (open face) pointed straight down with some skirting - and that's it!"
