The fourth music video for Static-X, a Los Angeles based, Platinum selling heavy metal band.

This was D.P. Roderick E. Stevens' fifth Music Video working with Director Darren Lynn Bousman and was, as always .  .  . an adventure!

This video made use of numerous locations including the band's rehearsal space, the roof of a building in downtown L.A., a nearby street, and the high-desert flats north of Indio, Ca. (three hours from L.A.)

Roderick explains, "Band members Wayne and Tony are both avid 4-wheelers so they knew of an isolated location out in the desert where we could grab some fun 'action' shots. We shot almost all of that footage with an Arri IIC with a 45 degree shutter - which really accentuated the motion and gave us a chance to actually 'see' Wayne singing the song - without excessive blur".
"Lighting for most of this video was rather easy," recalls Roderick "It was all about the locations. A little grippage got us through the desert footage,  and the rehearsal studio was 'all about those windows'!"

"I didn't want to lose the great texture on the back wall into silhouette, so a couple of 1200 w HMI's raked the spaces between the windows - which were blown out by the sun. Then a 1k redhead floated around with 1/2CTB on it for the necessary fill. And that was it."

For the intro to the song, lead singer, Wayne Static had a vision of the group dressed in tuxedos playing old acoustic instruments.

Roderick comments. "This presented our biggest challenge. the space we had to shoot in (where the piano was) was insanely small. We blacked it out to create limbo and then I used several 1k Baby's to create individual spotlights for each band member, with a 2k Zip light on the floor as an overall backlight."
